The term “ableism” is derived from the word “to be able” and describes a societal norm that sets ability as the standard, thereby systematically excluding many people from equal participation. This norm is closely tied to a logic that values people based on their performance. As part of Hochschultag, the art school community will address visible and invisible barriers—whether in physical spaces, structures, teaching methods, or patterns of thought.

To this end, +dimensions, ARTplus and Commission for Equal Opportunities invite all art school members–students and staff–to join a series of inputs, discussions, and workshops in early December 2024. to identify barriers, share perspectives and create opportunities for inclusion. Together, barriers will be identified, perspectives shared, and opportunities for participation created. Experts have been invited to present existing initiatives and offerings within the art school.
