We Write Us In: Trans*feminist Worlding, Archiving, and Poetics in Film and Games

Join us for an evening of film screenings and video games, followed by a discussion with the artists. We will screen Madison Bycroft’s The Sauce of All Order (2024, 32 min.), Ren Loren Britton’s Coalition Bouquet:504 Sit-In (2024, 12 min.) and Mining Meisspelling (2023, 15 min.). Prior to the event, Robin Rutenberg’s Stonesong (2022), Portals (2023), and a prototype of their new work Undivided (2025) will be available to play in the exhibition space.

After the screening, we will sit with the artists to discuss the intersections of their media practices, the power of archiving, worldbuilding and unbuilding, digital landscapes and the possibilities they posses to dismantle and re-imagine, and how joy and resistance go hand in hand.

The event will be held in English.

The event will take place as part of the exhibition “Soft Spaces, Shared Grounds.”

Bios

Working with video, sculpture, and performance, Madison Bycroft’s current interests extend into forms of reading and writing, expression, and refusal. The politics of illegibility and legibility are explored through language and material, asking how ‘sense’ is framed by historical contexts, biases, and structures of power. Bycroft is interested in how we might re-imagine “reading” (in its expanded sense) and understanding, not as goal-oriented towards accomplishment, but as a relationship that hovers and makes space - opaque, errant, fractured, and floating.

Ren Loren Britton is a transdisciplinary artist-designer reverberating with transfeminism, technosciences, radical pedagogy and disability justice. The hir-story of cyberfeminism informs their focus on trans, as in, transgender and trans, as in, crossing contexts with feminist concerns. They are interested in how socio-technical systems make lives accessible and pleasurable.

Robin Rutenberg is an interdisciplinary sound and media artist placing an emphasis on transfeminist worldbuilding through storytelling, performance, game art, experiential sound and composition. Through an enmeshment of mediums, they build emotionally resonant and stimulating worlds which archive, imagine otherwise, and hold trans* narratives. Their work entwines poetics of reflection, radical listening, and resonance and manifests as immersive games, performances, publications, and sound works.
