This collection comprises eleven contributions that reflect the intertwinings of the diverse practices of the artistic research group +dimensions. The ten editors, each representing a different discipline and the XR-Tech-Lab of the weißensee school of art and design berlin, individually or collaboratively focus on research-based teaching and/or learning-based research, providing insights into their work processes over the past two years. Each booklet exemplifies a quest for knowledge that is conveyed both materially and formally as well as discursively. The contributions address, among other things, digital influences in art and design and the design of teaching and learning spaces, taking diversity-sensitive aspects into account. In the individually designed booklets and folding objects of the collection, not only the editors but also numerous contributors from the art school have their say: students, teachers, workshop and administrative staff, as well as external participants involved in the research and/or respective practices. The publication appears as part of the +dimensions publications series.
Juana Awad's contribution “Decolonial Studio” gathers descriptions of her seminars on postcolonial theory, decolonial positions, and curatorial practices.
The second part of her booklet “Diasporic Memory Making” presents material from her research project—interviews and archival photos—on diasporic curatorial practices in the post-migrant society.
“Exploring a New Dimension – Körper und Mode im Digitalen” documents teaching projects by Madeleine Madej in Fashion Design, focusing on the creation, visualization, and presentation of clothing on avatars in virtual spaces.
Madej also showcases works from her personal artistic exploration.
In the booklet by Thomas Ness and Henrike Uthe, they, along with seven other authors, share their experiences regarding accessibility at the art school.
