Florian Dombois

The lecture and discussion with Florian Dombois on Peertube.

As a preview to the lecture series "+dimensions dialogues – Blurred Territories", curated and organized by the +dimensions research group in the summer semester 2022 with four guests, Florian Dombois is invited as a speaker on 01.02.2022 to talk about his research focus. Under the title "Time Zones of Artistic Research", Dombois approached the research team's question of how to come together as a transdisciplinary team, and devoted himself to the different concepts of artistic and design research. The starting point focused on different recipients and peers, and how this heterogeneity affects the understanding of research. Florian Dombois is an artist, professor and head of the research focus on transdisciplinarity at the Zurich University of the Arts. He studied geophysics and philosophy, graduated in theoretical geophysics and received his PhD with a thesis in cultural studies. As an artist he deals with wind, time, models, nature models and sound kites. In addition, he has been committed to art as research since the 90s. At the Bern University of the Arts, he established the Y Institute in the early 00s, a center for transdisciplinary teaching. At the Zurich University of the Arts he has been a professor since 2011. The lecture took place with the support of the Cluster of Excellence "Matters of Activity. Image Space Material", funded by the DFG.
